Books for Articulation |
The repetition of wording from these stories allows young readers to participate along with the story. They are especially conducive to teaching inferencing and prediction-making skills for children before they can read on their own. These books provide opportunities for exposing children to new syntactical rules, vocabulary, and can be very helpful in practicing a targeted speech sound or phonological process.

Wordless picture books are great for children of all ages, giving them the chance to explore language in creative and engaging ways. Have the child describe the pictures, narrate the story, predict, inference, and then do it all again to encourage retell and sequencing!

Supporting articulation through literacy-based activities allows for modeling and repetition of the speech sound in context. While reading point out the child's target sounds in the book. Use a sticky note to flag the sounds then encourage them to produce their target sounds in those words correctly. Have them re-read the story aloud or re-tell the story to you using their best speech sounds.
